Project #2 Grading Rubric
Here's what I'll be looking for as I grade project #2:
Concept– Is there a clear and engaging story? A clear beginning, middle, and end, or other purposeful structure?
Technical– Was the audio recorded clearly, using the proper zoom settings and mic placement?
Transcript– Student created a transcription of the audio recording with timecode before the first in-class editing session. Student used the transcription to first create a rough paper edit. Student turned in transcription prior to Lab #8.
Team player– Was the student communicative and collaborative with their partner? Did they show up on time, prepared with questions? Did they participate enthusiastically as an interviewee?
Timeliness– Was the project completed, exported, and uploaded to the blog on time? Were the correct export settings used?
Workflow– The student participated in the pre-interview, there’s evidence that a list of questions were prepared, and that thought went into finding a quiet place to record. The student used class time wisely, setup correct finder/ premiere folder structures, and backed everything up. The student started by creating a selects reel, then duplicated their sequence to start editing down the interview bytes. Room tone, sfx, and music were laid in after the interview cut was locked, and each sound element was placed onto a different premiere track.

Editing– Did they use the tools we covered in lecture and lab? Is room tone placed under and between the interview bytes? Were sound effects (SFX) and music used effectively? Does the voice of the interviewee sit well above the music and SFX level? Does the piece adhere to the 3-4 minute guideline?
