Rubric for Project #3
160 Assignment 3 - Rubric for Continuity Project
Pre-production: Student submitted storyboards and shot list prior to shoot day
(Due Saturday, April 21st at noon via email).
Production: Shooting style reflects key concepts learned in lecture– use of different camera angles to convey appropriate storytelling points. Were the frames intentional? Were they communicating the scene through composition? X/Y/Z axis? Were they using horizontal and vertical lines? Were the shots in focus, and steady? Pans, zooms, tilts and handheld dynamic movements were employed intentionally.
Post-Production: Did they use the tools taught in lecture and lab? Music and sound effects that help and not overpower the piece? Did the student use non-copyrighted music? Correct audio levels with correct transitions. No camera sound! Video transitions. Titles. Pacing that contributes to story.
Concept: Clear, with a purposeful structure– beginning / middle / end. Creativity!
Followed project guidelines: One actor moving through their environment, one location only, no dialogue, POV sequence that utilizes continuity editing: match-cut, 30 degree rule, shot reverse shot, etc. Time: 1-5 minutes.
Team Player/ Professionalism: Did they show up on time on the day of shooting and willfully participate in their partner's project? Did they come to class prepared, with their hard drive? Did they follow along and pay attention during demos?
Project due on blog at end of Lab 13: May 7th
