Our Final Exam for the course will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd, from 7pm-9pm.

Blog #4: MoMI

Museum of the Moving Image Visit and Blogging Assignment DATE: Wednesday, May 2 TIME: 1PM – 3PM  Note: This trip is during “Dean's Hours” as the museum is closed in the evening when we have our lectures.  This is a guided tour and the actual time is 90 minutes, from 1:15PM to 2:45PM. This means that most people will be able to get to the Museum and back to Hunter in a timely fashion.  The Museum of the Moving Image on 35th Avenue at the corner of 36th Street in Astoria is our destination. The Museum has fairly recently re-opened and has a variety of exciting new exhibits. See ( www.movingimage.us )    There will be NO lecture on that evening. Instead we will be going to the museum as a class.  You are welcome to stay afterwards. Please sign in with your instructors and give them your Hunter ID number. (This is important as we don't get reimbursed if you forget!) DIRECTIONS: From Hunter, you take the IRT to 59th (or walk down). Then take...

Finder folder structure for Assignment #3

Image
0. Plug your hard-drive into your computer. 1. Create new sub-folder in your Media 160 folder on your hard-drive called “Project 03” 2. Create three sub-folders within Project 01 titled "Media" "Audio" “Project Files” and "Exports." If you'd like, you can also put numbers in front of your folders so they can be in an order that makes sense to you. I generally like to have all of my media up top (audio and video), followed by the project files, then my exports, and then any additional folders I need per project will come after that, like graphics, stills, and transcripts. 3. Create a folder within “Media” titled “Card 01" 4. Pop your memory card into the back of the computer. 5. Drag the “PRIVATE” folder from the memory card into the “Card 01” folder on your drive. Do not rename this folder, or restructure any of the files!! 6. Once the card is finished copying, eject it from the computer (by dragging the card icon into the trash can, or hittin...

Rubric for Project #3

160 Assignment 3 - Rubric for Continuity Project Pre-production:  Student submitted storyboards and shot list prior to shoot day  (Due Saturday, April 21st at noon via email). Production:  Shooting style reflects key concepts learned in lecture– use of different camera angles to convey appropriate storytelling points. Were the frames intentional? Were they communicating the scene through composition? X/Y/Z axis? Were they using horizontal and vertical lines? Were the shots in focus, and steady?  Pans, zooms, tilts and handheld dynamic movements were employed intentionally. Post-Production:  Did they use the tools taught in lecture and lab? Music and sound effects that help and not overpower the piece? Did the student use non-copyrighted music? Correct audio levels with correct transitions. No camera sound! Video transitions. Titles. Pacing that contributes to story.  Concept:  Clear, with a purposeful structure– beginning / middle / end...
